HARLEY 4 SIGHT-2 NOV 2008- The South African Optometric Association And Harley Owners Group Pretoria (HOG PTA) Join Forces To Bring Joy To Children From Prinshof School For The Visually Impaired

On Sunday 2 November 2008, Harley Davidson owners/riders from HOG PTA will be revving their beasts for a good cause. As part of Pretoria Harley Day, a parallel event will be run, called Harley 4 Sight. The showcase of the event will be an out ride for 25 blind and seriously visually impaired children from the Prinshof School. The school is one of the premier educational institutions for children with visual disabilities. Most, if not all the children, have never experienced a ride on a motorbike, let alone the king of motorbikes, Harley Davidson. Harley’s top owner/riders have offered their machines and motor biking skill to make some dreams come true.

Both events will be based at Harley Menlyn and will start at 8:30am. Harley 4 Sight is a collaboration between The South African Optometric Association (SAOA) and HOG PTA. The SAOA will be hosting free eye screenings on site to emphasise the importance of regular visits to your optometrist. Healthy vision is a safety necessity for riders and drivers on SA roads. All optometrists performing screenings on the day are members of the SAOA.

Harley 4 Sight and Pretoria Harley day will be jam packed with fun and fair for the whole family. There will be food stalls, live entertainment, a bar and loads of roaring Harleys. The new Harley Davidson 2009 range will be available for demo rides.

All proceeds of the day will benefit the Vision in Sight Trust, which is the fundraising leg of the SAOA. The Trust provides eye care to South Africans who are not by the financial means to afford it.
