Release- Set Your Sight On A Record @ Montecasino
Sometimes you have to do extraordinary things to
draw attention to the really important things. One of those
important things is eye care.’ Cathy Franconi- Vision in
Sight Trust
The South African Optometric
Association’s fundraising leg, The Vision in Sight Trust and
its sponsor partners Transitions Healthy Sight For Life,
Oakley and Monte Casino are planning to make South African
history at The Piazza at Montecasino on Friday the 17
October 2008. They aim to set an eye screening record with
the help of an anticipated 2000 members of the public,
corporate teams, school pupils and old age homes. The event
happens at the tail end of international Eye Care Awareness
Week 6-10 October, which is a week dedicated to highlighting
the importance of eye care and healthy vision. This year’s
theme is ‘Vision impairment in later life’
With the
participation of SAOA member optometrists and the University
of Johannesburg optometric students offering their
expertise, the event promises to run without a glitch, with
numbers been chalked up as the day progresses.
Cathy
Franconi, the organiser of ‘SET YOUR SIGHT ON A RECORD’ said
the event was going to be supported by many South African
television, music and sports stars, including Greg Minnaar,
mountain bike world champion, The MTN Professional Cycling
Team and Shaun Rubenstein, canoeist and Olympic athlete.
Kaizer Chiefs, who are known to support Vision in Sight
Trust events, will also be making an appearance, along with
hot SA band Klopjag. The day will be graced by the presence
of Vision in Sight patron Zindzi Mandela, who will be
drawing the name of the winner of the Oakley/ Montecasino
Experience Pack to the value of R15 000.
Oakley and
Montecasino have sponsored prizes worth thousands of rand.
Competitions will be run all day where these prizes will be
up for grabs.
